A wellness influencer visiting Milano has declared that Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece the Last Supper does not in fact represent the moment that Jesus says one of his twelve apostles will betray him.
Instead, Bill (a self actualized Doctor) states confidently that the varied expressions of disbelief, anger and shock can instead be attributed to a catering mistake.
When asked about his claims, he said, “Look. I don’t know anything about art, but I know what I know, and here, Jesus is clearly pointing to what is probably a loaf made with wheat and what looks like a big chunk of cheese!
They would have all known that Jesus was gluten sensitive and now someones gotta take the blame. And ya know, in a group that size there’s probably a couple of vegans, maybe a nut allergy, someone too high to eat, just sayin’. And Jesus still has to pay the caterers.”
Art historians responded by asserting, “it’s outrageous that a wellness influencer would assume that Jesus and the 12 disciples would know about dietary issues. It’s common knowledge that Jesus was telling Thomas and James the Greater that he would be betrayed by the apostle who reached for the bread at the same time he did and is actually pointing at the bread.”
Dr. Bill disagrees saying, “Nope! He’s asking if the bread has gluten and his mates can’t remember if they asked for gluten free. It’s a staff dinner and the boss ain’t happy. And who’s that shady guy in the shadow at the end of the table? I reckon that’s the guy who was in charge of organizing the party. It’s his fault. Totally obvious! I’d like to know what happened after the dinner?!
Art historians have directed Bill to view El Greco’s painting “The Disrobing of Christ” and the multitudes of artworks depicting the crucifixion of Jesus.
Bill responded by text, saying “Nah, too depressing mate. And all over a loaf of bread.”
